Books

Two very different books, written in two different phases of my life.

Viral Hero

Viral Hero is a battle-tested playbook for building products capable of true viral growth. It breaks down the different types of viral marketing, demystifies the theory, and gives operators clear tactics for measuring, predicting, and engineering the kind of word-of-mouth spread most teams only stumble into by accident — illustrated throughout with examples from real high-growth companies.

Origin story — Viral Hero was never supposed to be a book. It started as the blog for a company I co-founded back in 2014 and sold the following year. I loved the blog so much that I excluded it from the sale, and continued writing it on my personal site. A publisher reached out after hearing me on a podcast, and the rest is history.

Peak Performance Poker: Revolutionizing the Way You View the Game

Peak Performance Poker reframes serious poker as a competitive sport — and gives players a research-backed playbook for training like one. It covers flow states, nutrition, sleep and recovery, sports psychology, and time management, with input from top pros like Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth on how peak physical and mental condition translates directly into better decisions at the table.

Origin story — Back in 2009 or 2010, I was finishing my first master's degree in exercise physiology, dreaming of becoming a strength and conditioning coach for an NFL team. I was also playing professional online poker, and was coaching on a few of the major online poker training sites. I did a series of videos for one of them, positioning poker as a professional sport that players trained for like athletes. Some loved the concept, and others thought it was ridiculous. To prove my case, I opted to research that hypothesis as my graduate thesis. It was picked up by a publisher shortly thereafter.
